Audit Log in Toggl 2.0
Use the Audit Log to get a history of changes made to projects, tasks, clients, tags, time logs, planned time and more.
The Audit Log gives admins a complete history of changes in their organization — who changed what, and when. Use it to find when a project, task, client, tag, custom field, time log, or planned-time item was created, updated, or deleted, who made the change, and the value before and after.
The Audit Log is available on Premium and Enterprise plans.
Who can use it
-
Organization admins see changes across all workspaces.
-
Workspace admins see changes in their own workspace.
Team members without access do not see the page.
Using Audit Log
Click Admin Settings in the sidebar. Click on Admin Log in the Workspace Setup section.
The Audit Log is view-only. Expanding an entry does not take you to the project, task, or time log it refers to — open that item from its usual place in the app.
What's recorded
The log records creates, updates, and deletes for:
- Projects
- Tasks
- Clients
- Tags
- Custom fields
- Time logs
-
Planned time
Each entry shows who made the change, when it happened, and what happened. Bulk edits appear as one entry per item.
Only changes made by someone other than the entry owner are recorded. For example, when an admin corrects a team member's time log.
What's not recorded
The Audit Log does not include changes to users, roles, project membership, invites, SSO, billing, workspace settings, goals, milestones, statuses, rates, timesheets, comments, or attachments.
Reading an entry
Click any entry to expand it and see exactly what changed, field by field — the value before and after.
For example: Project "Website redesign" — name changed from "Website v2" to "Website redesign".
Finding specific changes
Filter the log by:
-
Type of change (projects, tasks, clients, tags, custom fields, time logs, planned time)
-
Action (created, updated, or deleted)
-
Team member
- Date range
You can also look up one specific item by its ID.
By default the log shows workspace changes. Use the type filter when you want to include time logs.
Audit Log in the API
The Audit Log is also available through the Toggl 2.0 API — useful for compliance and change-management workflows. There is no download button in the app; you can export a workspace's log through the API.
See the Toggl 2.0 Public API article and the API reference for details.
