# EU data hosting in Toggl
Toggl can be hosted in the European Union. EU-hosted organizations run on a separate deployment of Toggl in Google Cloud's Belgium region (europe-west1), with their own databases. Your application data at rest is stored in the EU.
EU hosting is available for Toggl. It isn't available for Toggl Track.
### How EU hosting works
- **A separate deployment.** The EU version of Toggl doesn't share databases with the US version.
- **Separate accounts.** An EU account is separate from a US account.
- **The same product.** You track time, plan work and run reports the same way as in the US region. A few features aren't available on the EU version yet (see below).
### What's stored in the EU
For EU-hosted organizations, this data is stored in the EU:
- Time entries
- Projects, tasks and clients
- Attachments
- User accounts and login details
- Subscription records
- Backups
### What's processed outside the EU
- **Sub-processors:** some of the services we use to run Toggl, such as our payment provider, are located outside the EU. Our [sub-processor list](https://toggl.com/legal/sub-procesor-list) shows each one and where it’s located. Wherever our sub-processors are located, we use only providers bound by data processing terms that meet GDPR requirements. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, it’s protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- **Staff access:** Toggl is a remote company, and some of our team members are based outside the European Economic Area. Where they need access to your data, for example to provide support or maintain the service, access is limited to what the task requires and protected by appropriate safeguards and controls.
Our [Data Processing Agreement](https://toggl.com/legal/data-processing-agreement) applies to EU-hosted organizations in the same way as to other organizations.
### How to get started
1. Go to the Toggl sign-up page, or to [toggl.com/eu-hosting](https://toggl.com/eu-hosting).
2. In the region selector, choose **EU**.
3. Sign up and create your organization.
4. Invite your team. Each person creates their account through the invite, so their account is on the EU version too.
When you log in, choose **EU** in the region selector. If you choose US, Toggl won't find your EU account.
### How to check where your organization is hosted
Look at the address in your browser when you're using Toggl. If it includes [**eu.toggl.com**](http://eu.toggl.com), your organization is hosted in the EU. If it doesn't, your organization is hosted in the US.
Moving an existing organization to the EU
You can't move an existing organization from the US region to the EU region yourself. Get in touch with your Customer Success manager or reach out to Toggl support to discuss available options.

- Mobile apps
- The remote MCP server

### FAQ
**Does EU hosting cost more?**
No. Currently, EU-hosted organizations have the same plans and pricing as organizations in the US region.
**Where exactly is my data stored?**
In Google Cloud's europe-west1 region, in Belgium.
**Do I need EU hosting to use Toggl in line with the GDPR?**
No. Toggl OÜ is a company established in Estonia, so the GDPR applies directly to how we handle data for all customers, wherever their organization is hosted. Toggl is built so you can use it in line with your own GDPR obligations in either region, and our Data Processing Agreement covers both.
For the data your organization puts into Toggl, your organization is the data controller and Toggl processes it on your behalf as a data processor. For some data, such as account and billing details, Toggl acts as a controller, as described in our [Privacy Policy](https://toggl.com/legal/privacy-policy).
EU hosting is an option for organizations that prefer, or are required by their own policies or customers, to keep their application data stored in the EU.
**Is EU hosting covered by Toggl's security certifications?**
Yes. The EU deployment is run under the same information security management system and controls as the rest of Toggl. It will be included in the scope of our next SOC 2 Type 2 report, and it is included in the scope of our ISO 27001 certification.
**Can I have one organization in the US region and another in the EU region?**
Yes. They're fully separate, with separate accounts, logins and billing.
