Overview of the Time Off page
This guide is for anyone who takes time off in Toggl, and for the team leads and admins who approve or log it for others. It explains the Overview, Team requests and Team policies tabs, what changes between a paid plan and Time Off Pro, and who can see what. After reading it you’ll know where to log or request leave, where to review requests, and which article covers each step.
The Time Off page is where you log your own days off, see who on your team is away, and, with Time Off Pro, track balances, approve requests and manage leave policies.
Open Time off in the sidebar, under Manage.
What you see depends on your plan:
- Free plan: Time off opens a preview with sample data. You can stay on Free, upgrade to Starter, or start a Time Off Pro trial.
- Starter and above, without Time Off Pro: a single page where you log your own time off and see who’s out. Admins can also log leave for a teammate.
- With Time Off Pro: the full page with three tabs, balances, approvals and policies.
If you’re the only person in the organization, the page shows It’s just you in this organization with an Invite your team button. Teammates’ time off appears once they join.

Common questions
Why don’t I see the Team requests tab?
Team requests is for Owners, Admins and Team Leads, and it works only with Time Off Pro. Without Time Off Pro, admins still see the tab, but with a star, and it opens a preview of what the add-on offers. If you’re a member, you only see Overview.
What do I see under Time off on the Free plan?
A preview with sample data. Personal time off is included on Starter and above. To log your own leave, upgrade, or ask an admin about a Time Off Pro trial.
Why didn’t my balance go down when I booked leave?
Days are taken off a balance only when the leave starts, not when you book it.
Why is there time off on my calendar that I didn’t book?
An Owner, Admin or Team Lead logged it for you. You get an in-app notification and an email, and the entry shows under Your time off. If it’s wrong, cancel it from there.
