# Time logs not showing in Toggl Track
## This guide is for admins and members who track time in Toggl and expect to see it in Toggl Track as well. It walks through the common reasons a time log doesn't appear in Toggl Track, from sync settings and timing to the workspace the time was logged in. You'll be able to find which one applies and fix it, or know what to send support.
Time you track in Toggl appears in Toggl Track only when **live sync** is turned on for the workspace, its direction includes Toggl → Toggl Track, and the time log is a completed one created or edited after sync was turned on. If any of those isn't true, the time log stays in Toggl only. In Toggl Track, time logs are called time entries.
### Checklist
Work through these in order. Most missing time logs are explained by the first four.

| 1 | **Is live sync on?** | Open **Admin settings** in the sidebar and find **Toggl Track sync**. | If the option is **No sync**, turn sync on and choose a direction. |
| 2 | **Is the right Toggl Track workspace linked?** | In the same section, check **Linked Toggl Track workspace**. | Pick the Toggl Track workspace you're looking at. Each Toggl workspace links to one Toggl Track workspace. We recommend pairing them one-to-one. |
| 3 | **Does the direction include Toggl → Toggl Track?** | The three directions are **Toggl Track → Toggl**, **Toggl → Toggl Track** and **Two-way**. | Choose **Toggl → Toggl Track** or **Two-way**. With **Toggl Track → Toggl**, time you track in Toggl stays in Toggl. |
| 4 | **Was the time logged before sync was turned on?** | Compare the date you turned sync on with the date of the missing time log. | Live sync only copies changes made after you turn it on. It doesn't back-fill. Use the importer to bring older history across. | 5 | **Is the timer still running?** | Look for a running timer in Toggl. | A time log is copied once it is stopped. Stop the timer and give it a few seconds. |
| 6 | **Was the time logged in the workspace you expect?** | If you belong to more than one workspace, look for a workspace icon in the timer bar. It means the running timer belongs to another workspace. Hover it to see which one. | When you stop that timer, the message names the workspace the time log was saved to, with **Go to workspace**. That workspace syncs to its own linked Toggl Track workspace, if it has one. Check the link for that workspace. |
| 7 | **Is it logged time rather than only planned time?** | Open the entry on the calendar. | Planned time that has no logged time isn't a time log, so it isn't copied. |
| 8 | **Did you give it a moment and refresh?** | Reload Toggl Track. | Sync is event-driven and usually takes under 3 seconds. You may need to refresh the page in Toggl Track to see it. |
| 9 | **Are you looking in the right place in Toggl Track?** | Check the workspace picker, the date range and any member, project or tag filters in Toggl Track's reports. | Clear the filters and widen the date range. Make sure the report is for the linked workspace. |
| 10 | **Does the person who tracked the time have a Toggl Track account in the same organization?** | Ask the person to sign in to Toggl Track with the same email. | Members aren't synced between products. The person needs to be a member of the organization in Toggl Track. Invite them there if not. |
| 11 | **Is the sync paused?** | The **Toggl Track sync** section shows "Toggl Track sync is temporarily paused while we improve performance." | Contact support to request access for your organization. |
### What you may see after it syncs
- **Projects and tasks.** A time log keeps its project and task only if that project or task also exists in Toggl Track through sync. Otherwise the time log can appear in Toggl Track without them.
- **Tags.** Tags on a Toggl time log are copied to the Toggl Track time entry. If the time log has no tags of its own, the tags on its task are copied.
- **Deletes.** If you delete a time log in Toggl, it is deleted in Toggl Track too.
- **Edits on both sides.** If the same field is edited in both products, the most recent change wins.
### Common questions
#### The opposite is happening: time from Toggl Track isn't showing in Toggl
Check that the direction includes **Toggl Track → Toggl** or **Two-way**, and that the time entry is a completed one made after sync was turned on. A running Toggl Track timer is copied once you stop it.
#### Can I get my old time logs into Toggl Track?
Live sync doesn't back-fill. If you edit an older time log in Toggl after sync is on, that edit is copied to Toggl Track, but untouched older logs are not.
#### Will turning sync off remove time logs?
No. Data that has already synced stays in both products. Future changes stop being copied.
#### I'm not an organization admin. How do I turn sync on?
Only organization admins who have a Toggl Track workspace in the organization see the sync settings. Ask one of them to check the link and direction.
#### Who should I contact if all checks pass?
Contact support and include the Toggl workspace name, the linked Toggl Track workspace name, who tracked the time, and the date and time of one missing time log.
