# Toggl Mobile App

## This guide covers the Toggl mobile app for iOS and Android, explaining how it complements the web app for on-the-go time tracking and task management. It explains how to use Timer, Calendar, Tasks, and Reports, plus the settings and features that stay on the web.

The Toggl app for iOS and Android uses the same account as the web app, so you can track time, plan the day, and read a summary of what you logged. The bottom bar has four tabs: Timer, Calendar, Tasks, and Reports. This guide covers each tab, including List and Pomodoro on Timer, and the tools that stay on the web.

**Download and sign in**

- [Download for iOS](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6746402581)
- [Download for Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toggl.focus)

On first launch, sign up or log in with the same Toggl account you use on the web. Log in opens the Toggl sign-in page, so Google, Apple, passkey, and SSO work there when they are turned on for your account. Use the password reset on that page if you have forgotten your password. If your organization is EU-hosted, choose **EU** in the region selector on that page. See [EU data hosting in Toggl](https://docs.toggl.com/eu-data-hosting-in-toggl?hsLang=en).

**Log in with QR code is in Beta.** On the welcome screen, under “Already using Toggl in your browser?”, tap **Log in with QR code**. The code is created in the browser, and that browser entry is still rolling out, so it shows on accounts in the rollout. The steps are in [Log in with QR code](https://docs.toggl.com/log-in-with-qr-code-kb?hsLang=en).

**The four tabs**

- **Timer** — start a timer, review the time log, or run a Pomodoro session.
- **Calendar** — see logged time, scheduled time, and connected calendar events. Shown when you can track time in the workspace.
- **Tasks** — find, filter, and edit tasks.
- **Reports** — a summary of logged time. Shown when you can view reports. While you are offline it stays on the bar but dimmed: connect before you open it.

You can start and stop a timer while offline. Those time logs sync when you are back online.

Open Settings from the gear at the top right of any tab. Tap the workspace name in the Timer header to open the workspace switcher.

The switcher also lists Track workspaces that don't have Toggl yet. An organization owner can tap **Enable** to turn Toggl on for everyone in that workspace, and the app then moves there and opens the importer. Anyone else sees that only the organization owner can enable Toggl there. See [Import your Track data on the mobile app](https://docs.toggl.com/import-your-track-data-into?hsLang=en).

### **Timer**

Timer has two modes, switched at the top of the screen: **List** and **Pomodoro**.

A new account can see a **Get started** checklist at the top of List. It walks through tracking time, adding a time log to a project, and connecting your calendar. If you have Track data you can bring across, an **Import your Track data** card shows there too.

#### List

List is the time log. It is divided into **Suggestions** and **Your activity**.

- Suggestions appear first. Tap play on a suggestion to start tracking it. Turn suggestions off under **Settings → Show suggestions**.
- The period control sits beside **Your activity**. Tap it to pick another week or a custom range, or swipe sideways to move between periods. Your activity is grouped by day, and each day shows its total.
- Tap a time log to edit the description, task, project, tags, or billable status. The duration field opens on the current duration, so you can edit it instead of retyping it.
- When the description is empty, the editor lists your previous time logs under **Previously logged**, newest first. Start typing to filter them.
- Every time log is kept, however short it is. A timer stopped straight away is saved with at least 1 second.
- Swipe a time log to continue it or delete it. Continuing starts a new timer with the same details.
- The timer bar sits at the bottom. Type what you are working on and start. You do not have to create the task first. Add a project, task, tags, or billable status from the same sheet if you want them.

### Pomodoro

Pomodoro runs a focus interval and then prompts you to take a break. Each focus session is saved as its own time log, and breaks are not tracked.

Open **Timer** and switch to **Pomodoro**.

Tap **Start session**. Name what you are focusing on if you want that on the time log.

When the focus interval ends, Toggl stops and saves that time log, then tells you it is break time. When the break ends, tap **Start** to begin the next focus session and create a new time log. You can also end a focus session early. To start breaks and focus sessions automatically, turn on **Auto-start** in Pomodoro settings. It only works while the app is open on screen.

Interval lengths and notifications are under **Settings → Pomodoro settings**. Notifications apply to this phone only. On Android, allow alarms and reminders if the prompts arrive late.

The [Pomodoro timer](https://docs.toggl.com/pomodoro-timer-in-toggl?hsLang=en) guide covers the web controls. On the phone, use the **List / Pomodoro** switch; the separate-focus-entry and untracked-break behavior is the same.

### **Track without opening the app**

You can start and stop your timer from outside the app, even when Toggl isn't running. If your workspace needs something before the timer can start or stop, such as a required field, Toggl opens so you can sort it out.

#### Home-screen widget (iPhone and Android)

Add the Toggl widget the way you add any widget on your phone. It shows your running timer with a **Stop** button, or a **Start** button when nothing is running. Tap anywhere else on the widget to open the app.

- **iPhone:** small and medium sizes.
- **Android:** four sizes. The smallest is the Start or Stop button on its own, and the largest shows the description, task, project and logo. Resize the widget to move between them.

#### Lock Screen and Dynamic Island (iPhone)

While a timer runs, it shows on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Tap **Stop** to stop it without opening the app.

#### Notifications (Android)

- **Running timer** shows the running time log with a **Stop** button. It's on by default. On Android 16, it can also show as a Live Update.
- **Stopped timer** shows after you stop, with **Start new timer**, **Continue** and **Mute**. It's off by default.
- During a Pomodoro session, the focus or break phase takes the place of the running timer notification.

Turn **Running timer** and **Stopped timer** on or off in **Settings**, under Timer. Both need notifications allowed for Toggl.

#### Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight and the Action button (iPhone)

These actions are ready as soon as Toggl is installed, with nothing to set up. Say the phrase to Siri, or run the action from Spotlight, the Shortcuts app or the Action button.

| Action | Say |
| --- | --- |
| Start timer | “Start a timer in Toggl” or “Start tracking in Toggl” |
| Stop timer | “Stop my Toggl timer” or “Stop tracking in Toggl” |
| Continue last time log | “Continue my last Toggl time log” or “Resume tracking in Toggl” |
| Show report | “Show my Toggl report” or “Show my Toggl report for last week” |

- Actions run in the workspace you have open on that phone. Starting a timer stops the one already running.
- **Show report** opens Reports in the app. The other three work without opening it.
- In the Shortcuts app, you can build your own automations. **Start timer** can fill in the description, project, task, tags and billable status. Once you pick a project, the task list shows only that project's tasks. Recurring tasks aren't offered.
- A shortcut you build yourself opens Toggl by default. To keep it in the background, turn off **Open When Run** on the action.

### **Calendar**

The calendar shows one day at a time, with logged time, scheduled time, and events from a connected Google or Outlook calendar.

- Tap or drag across an empty part of the day to add time. A slot in the past opens **Log time**, while a slot in the future opens **Plan time**. Both sheets use the time wheel, and you can switch between logging and planning inside the sheet.
- Tap an entry to edit it. From there you can save, duplicate, or delete. On scheduled time, **Log time** copies that plan onto the logged side. When an entry has both, deleting one side leaves the other.
- Drag an entry to move it. The time is shown on the slot while you draw or move it.
- Tap a connected calendar event to open it and log time against it.
- Tap **+** in the Timer or Calendar header to open **Log time** with the last 30 minutes selected. Adjust the time wheel and details before saving.

Turn on **Split view** from the top bar, or under **Settings → Calendar settings**, to show planned and logged time in separate columns; the app follows the same Split view choice as the web app. To hide calendar events, turn off **Show calendar events** on the same page. Connect or disconnect Google and Outlook calendars there too, or allow access to the calendars on your phone. Local calendars are visible only on that device.

Scheduled time is what you intended to work on. Logged time is what you actually worked. The summary in Reports counts logged time. How the two relate on the web calendar is in [Planned vs logged time](https://docs.toggl.com/planned-vs-logged-time-in-toggls-calendar?hsLang=en).

### **Tasks**

### Tasks is the list of work, separate from the time log. The tab opens on **My tasks**, so you see tasks assigned to you first.

- Search by name from the search bar.
- When filters are active, a banner explains what you are seeing. The default says **Showing tasks assigned to you**. Tap **Reset** to clear the filters and show all tasks.
- Group by **Date**, **Priority**, **Status**, **Project**, or **None (flat list)**. With **Date**, tasks appear under **Overdue**, **Today**, **This week**, **Later**, and **No date**. You can change the sort in the same sheet.
- Tap a task to edit it. The **+** button creates a task.

### **Reports**

Reports on the phone is a summary of logged time: a total, a bar chart, and a breakdown grouped by **Project** or **Client**. It needs an internet connection.

- Tap the period at the top for Today, Yesterday, This week, Last week, This month, Last month, This year, Last year, or a custom range. Swipe to move to the previous or next period.
- Open **Filters** to limit the summary by member, team, client, project, task, tag, or billable status.
- On plans with a report-view limit, the app tells you when you have reached it and when it resets.

Saved views, sharing a report (including public links, and rolling or locked dates), export, and the other report types are web-only. See [Overview of the Reports page](https://docs.toggl.com/overview-of-the-reports-page?hsLang=en) and [Sharing reports](https://docs.toggl.com/sharing-reports?hsLang=en).

### **Settings**

The gear at the top right opens Settings.

- Workspace switcher, also available from the Timer header, plus **Projects**, **Clients**, and **Tags**
- Your profile details, including your account timezone, and **Account settings**. If your phone is set to a different timezone, a **Use device timezone** action shows under it.
- **Date and time** — date format, 24-hour clock, duration format, which day the week starts on, and **Group similar time logs**
- **Timer** — **Pomodoro settings**, **Swipe actions**, **Show suggestions**, **Time log display style**, **Open on startup** (which tab the app opens on), and **Smart reminders**. On Android, also **Running timer** and **Stopped timer**.
- **Calendar settings** — **Show calendar events**, **Split view**, and your connected Google or Outlook calendars
- **General** — **Theme** and **Language**
- **Import from Toggl Track**, when you are allowed to import. On the phone this brings the last two weeks and the next two weeks. Full history is imported on the web. See [Import your Track data on the mobile app](https://docs.toggl.com/import-your-track-data-into-?hsLang=en).
- **Share feedback**, **About**, and **Help**. **The in-app prompt that asks you to rate Toggl in the App Store or Play Store is in Beta**, so only some accounts see it.

Billing, members, and the rest of workspace admin stay on the web.

#### When your phone and account timezones differ

If your account timezone won't match your phone's at any point in the coming year, Toggl asks **Change your timezone?** before the clocks change. Tap **Change timezone** to update your account, or **Not now** to keep it. After **Not now**, the app asks again a week later. See [Timezones in Toggl](https://docs.toggl.com/timezones-in-toggl?hsLang=en).
