# Your free trial: what's included and what happens when it ends
## This guide is for people using Toggl during a Premium trial and for the admins deciding what happens next. It explains which features the trial unlocks, how the separate add-on trials work, how to choose a paid plan, and what your team can continue using if the trial ends without a subscription.
The Toggl trial gives your organization 30 days of Premium features without asking for a payment method. If nobody subscribes, the organization moves to the Free plan automatically when the trial ends and no charge is made.
### What the trial includes
The core trial unlocks the Premium plan, including Starter features. Examples include:
- Billable rates and team reports
- Shared reports, including public links and scheduled report emails
- Timeline planning, milestones and flexible working hours
- Project dashboards and profitability reports
- Timesheet approvals
- Workload and utilization reports
- Custom fields and supported integrations

During the trial, each project shows a **TRIAL** badge next to its title with the number of features unlocked. Hover over it to see which project features the trial includes.
Your access level still controls what you can see and change. A trial does not give every member admin permissions.
Enterprise-only capabilities are not part of the Premium trial. The [Time Off Management Add-on](https://docs.toggl.com/time-off-management?hsLang=en) and the [Capacity Management Add-on](https://docs.toggl.com/capacity-management-add-on?hsLang=en) have separate trials, and the core Premium trial does not start them automatically. Organization owners and admins can start the 30-day Capacity Management trial from the Capacity Management page: click **Capacity** in the sidebar, under **Manage**. Other members can use **Notify admin** there.
### Check when the trial ends
Organization owners and admins who manage the subscription can:
1. Open **Admin settings**.
2. Select **Explore plans** under **Organization**.
3. Check the trial notice above the plan comparison.
The page shows the active trial, how many days remain and that the Free plan starts afterward.
Other members can use trial features allowed by their access level, but they cannot manage the trial or subscription.
### Subscribe during the trial
To keep paid features:
1. Click **Upgrade** in the sidebar, or open **Admin settings → Explore plans**.
2. Choose **Monthly** or **Yearly** billing.
3. Select **Starter** or **Premium**. Enterprise uses **Book a demo** because its pricing is customized.
4. Confirm that the trial will finish immediately.
5. Complete **Your plan**, **Billing details** and **Payment details**. The billing country is filled in from your location, so check it and change it if needed.
6. Review the total, then click **Finish and pay**.
The paid subscription begins when checkout succeeds. The organization's existing data is preserved when the trial finishes.
Only an organization owner or admin with subscription access can complete checkout.
### What happens when the trial ends
If nobody subscribes:
- The organization moves to the Free plan automatically.
- No payment is taken.
- The organization and its existing data remain available.
- Features that require Starter, Premium or Enterprise become locked.
- The first login after the change shows **Your trial has ended**, with **Upgrade** and **Stay on Free** options.
The Free plan remains available without an end date. Its current member limit is shown on **Explore plans** rather than stated here, because plan limits can change.
### End the trial early
An organization owner or admin can move to Free before the trial's scheduled end:
1. Open **Admin settings → Billing → Overview** or **Explore plans**.
2. Open the menu for the Toggl plan.
3. Select **Cancel trial** or **Switch to Free**.
4. Confirm with **Cancel trial**. The dialog says your trial ends immediately.
The trial ends immediately and Premium features are locked. Staying on the trial until its scheduled end does not create a charge.
### Common questions
#### Will Toggl charge me automatically when the trial ends?
No. The core trial does not require a payment method and does not turn into a paid plan automatically. Your organization moves to Free unless an admin completes checkout.
#### Why can't I subscribe or cancel the trial?
Only organization owners and admins who can manage the subscription have access to Billing and Explore plans. Ask one of those admins to make the change.
#### Is the Free plan another trial?
No. Free is an ongoing plan. It has fewer features and a member limit, but it does not expire.
#### Does the Premium trial include add-ons?
No. The Time Off Management Add-on and the Capacity Management Add-on are separate add-ons with their own trials and subscriptions.
#### What happens if I subscribe before the trial ends?
The trial finishes immediately and the paid subscription begins. Toggl shows the billing cycle, tax where applicable and the total before you confirm payment.
