Tour of the Toggl web app

This guide walks through every page in the Toggl sidebar, from Timer and Reports to Members and Time off, with one line on what each page is for. Use it to get your bearings in the app, then follow the links to each page's full overview. It also explains why some pages only appear for certain roles or plans.

A tour of every page in the Toggl web app, in sidebar order. Each entry is one sentence; click through to the full page overview for detail. Toggl (formerly Toggl 2.0) is a time-tracking, planning and reporting tool; this guide is the backbone of the help centre — every other page overview links back here.

The sidebar is the left rail of the web and desktop app. It is grouped into four sections — Track, Analyze, Plan and Manage — followed by Favorites, the workspace switcher, and a row of buttons at the bottom. Mobile uses a tab bar instead; see Which Toggl app should I use? for the differences.

Pinned projects and pinned saved views appear here, one row each, so the pages you check most are always one click away. See Pinning projects to the sidebar (Favorites).

Button What it does
Toggl AI Opens the AI chat — ask questions about your time, projects and reports. Starter and above.
Download apps Links to the desktop, mobile and browser-extension downloads.

What you see depends on your role and plan

Not every sidebar item is visible to everyone. Time Trackers see the Timer and their assigned projects and tasks; Managers and Admins see Members, Approvals and the full settings. Some items — Approvals, Timeline capacity features, Invoices — depend on your plan. See User roles in Toggl and Why can’t I see a page or feature?.

Next step: Pick the quickstart for your role — Quickstart for team members, Quickstart for admins on the Starter plan, or Quickstart for managers and project managers.
