Integrations overview: everything Toggl connects to

This guide lists everything Toggl connects to, what each connection does, which plan it needs and who sets it up. It is for admins and team members deciding how to bring work, calendars or data into Toggl, or how to send Toggl data out. Use it to pick the right integration, then follow the link to its full setup guide, or to reconnect one that has stopped working.

Integrations overview

Toggl connects to your other tools in five ways: project sync (Jira and Asana), calendars (Google and Outlook), data import and sync (Toggl Track, Toggl Plan and CSV files), the browser extension, and developer tools (the Public API, MCP and CLI, and webhooks). This guide shows what each one does, who sets it up and where to find it.

Sync work from Jira or Asana

Use these when your team plans work in Jira or Asana and you want to track time against the same projects and tasks without recreating them.

  • Where: Admin settings → Connections → Integrations. Click Connect on the Jira or Asana card.
  • Who: a workspace admin sets it up. If you can't connect, you need permission to manage integrations, and your plan must include integrations.
  • How it syncs: one-way. Changes in Jira or Asana appear in Toggl within moments, and changes made in Toggl are not sent back. Every synced project and task links back to the original item.
  • Reconnect: admins see a Reconnect button on every connected Jira or Asana card. If Toggl needs new permissions, the card also says so, for example "Toggl needs new permissions in Jira. Reconnect to grant them." Reconnecting repairs the existing connection, so you don't need to disconnect and set it up again.
  • What comes in: during setup you can switch off entity types you don't need. For Jira you can also use a JQL filter to limit which issues are imported.
  • Watch out: if your organization already connects Asana to Toggl Track and your Track data flows into Toggl, don't connect Asana directly in Toggl as well, or you can get duplicate projects and tasks. See the Asana guide for which setup applies to you.

Connect your calendar

Connect Google or Outlook calendars so meetings and other events show up as planned time. You can link an event to a task or project, log it as a time entry, or have Toggl auto-track it.

  • Where: Settings → Connected calendars → External calendar integrations, then Add Google Calendar or Add Outlook Calendar.
  • Who: each person connects their own calendar.
  • Auto-track: to turn auto-track on or off for all your calendars at once, use Auto-track time from all enabled calendars at the top of Connected calendars. If only some calendars have it on, the setting shows, for example, "On for 2 of 3 calendars". You can still change each calendar on its own.
  • How often it updates: changes made in Google or Outlook show up in Toggl within about three minutes, when you open the calendar or come back to the tab.

See Using the calendar integration and Planned vs logged time on the calendar.

Bring in data from other tools

  • Moving from Toggl Track or Toggl Plan: use the Toggl importer under Admin settings → Connections → Data Import. Admins who haven't imported yet may also see an Import data shortcut in the sidebar.
  • Moving from another time tracker or a spreadsheet: use the Universal CSV Importer, which lets you map the columns of any CSV file.
  • Keeping Toggl and Toggl Track in step: Toggl Track Sync lets you choose a direction for each linked workspace: No sync, Toggl Track → Toggl, Toggl → Toggl Track, or Two-way. It only applies to changes made after you turn it on, so run the importer first if you also want your existing history.

Not sure which one to use? See Bring your data into Toggl: which importer to use.

Track time from other websites

The Toggl browser extension adds a timer button to web pages. With custom mappings, you can fill the project, tags and task name from the page, so time from tools such as Jira, GitHub or Zendesk lands in the right place with one click. See Mapping Page Data Into Toggl.

Build your own with the API, MCP, CLI and webhooks

  • Public API: generate a token in Profile Settings → API Token, then send it as a bearer token with each request. Actions are attributed to you and follow your access level's permissions. The full reference is at engineering.toggl.com/docs/focus.
  • MCP and CLI: connect AI assistants such as Codex, Claude Desktop and Cursor to your Toggl data, or use the command line for scripts and automation. They follow the same plan limits and permissions as the web app.

Common questions

Why is the Connect button unavailable for Jira or Asana?

Either your plan does not include integrations (they are part of Premium and above), or your access level cannot manage them. The Integrations section still shows the connectors to every admin, but the cards are greyed out until both are in place.

Can changes I make in Toggl flow back to Jira or Asana?

No. Both syncs are one-way, from Jira or Asana into Toggl.

Can I disconnect an integration?

Yes. Click Disconnect on the card. Toggl stops syncing, and data that has already synced stays in your workspace. If a connection stops working, click Reconnect instead. Disconnecting and connecting again creates a new integration and can duplicate synced data.

Where do I find a Toggl Track integration, such as Track's own Jira setup?

Track integrations are documented on the Toggl Track help centre at support.toggl.com. This page covers integrations for Toggl.
